in Discipleship: Leaving a Legacy SDMI Luncheon at District Assembly 2009 "I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." --
II Timothy 1:5-6
We don't hear a lot about Lois and Eunice, mom and grandma to Timothy. They are among the quiet ones of scripture -- mentioned briefly with very little detail. But these two women are still having an impact on the world today. They were noted for their sincere faith, which surely had a tremendous impact on young Timothy. Mentored further by the Apostle Paul, Timothy played a significant part in the formation of the early Church. Who is your "Timothy"? Who would look at you five years from now and say "That person has been one of the most influential mentors in my spiritual life"? Twenty years from now, how many people will be fully devoted followers of Christ through the influence of the ones you are currently discipling? Living in the power of the Holy Spirit, the potential is truly inspiring. The theme of this year's luncheon is "Partners in Discipleship: Leaving a Legacy." We will hear a great story of how one person has changed the world for Christ through consistent -- yet surprisingly simple -- action, while pausing a bit in the business of District Assembly for great food and conversation. Click these links for information and registration. PLEASE NOTE: Due to catering deadlines, we must have money in-hand no later than May 5 to reserve your tickets. We look forward to seeing you there! Other Posts:
